Devon Originals: How They Happen

“It all begins with an unusual loose gemstone, one that I feel especially drawn to at that moment. I gently cradle the gem in my hand, passing it over our profuse and colorful collection of loose gems amassed over many years. Suddenly another gem finds its way into my hand—one pulled toward the other by an attraction of compatible color, shape, and texture. In design we love odd numbers of elements, so usually a third gem joins the first two. Then I move the gems around on white paper in various configurations until the rough design and proportion just click.
